Review: TonyMoly Luminous Pure Aura CC Cream SPF 30 PA++
Around 1 week ago my package for the TonyMoly CC cream had arrived and I was over the moon to try this out since it's been advertised like crazy and so many people have been talking about it, so I went ahead and joined the club and placed an order for it. This isn't the first CC cream I have tried, back a year and a bit ago I tried the RachelK CC cream and I've also tried a sample of the Chanel, Hera and Banila co and have just bought the kiehls one yesterday.
So what is CC cream?
-that's probably a question all of you may be asking, In the Korean market there are two different types of CC creams available.OK, now actually moving onto the review of the product, I must say I love the packaging. It is quite plain but at the same time it's sleek and simple which is the design I prefer. However, because of this those of you who prefer prettier or more fancy packaging may hate this, but it has a pump which is hygienic ~
1) Color Controlling cream, you will find many of these in more of the roadshop brands for example, this TonyMoly one. It is basically a white cream which as you rub it into your skin it adapts to your skin tone so you wouldn't have to worry about oxidization problems like with foundations, tinted moisturizers or BB creams. These types of CC creams mainly focus on moisturizing and giving you that dewy glowing actress skin and focuses very little on giving you coverage.
2) Complete Correcting/Correction cream, these are more like the Chanel and Hera version. Where they come in already a tinted formula just like a BB cream and it is meant to provide you more coverage yet still having that light texture for you to achieve the actresses glow. The coverage is around medium, if you have a lot of hyperpigmentation theses might not cover those up and you may need to go over them with concealer.
CC cream is meant to be an upgraded/improved version of a BB cream. Remember when BB creams were said to be the product to use in order to get skin like idols and actresses in South Korea? well apparently that is all in the past. As many brands claim on there CC creams, this is now the product that we should use to achieve that, and this kind of makes sense in a way since BB creams now days have so many different textures/consistency, coverage, shades/tones which is good to an extent because not everyone has the same skin type, skin tone and needs for a base product. But in actual fact this means we have defeated the whole purpose of what an original BB cream is like.
We have two different printed languages on the box, one side is in English and the other in Hangul which share pretty much the same information; ingredients list, instructions on how to apply the product and precautions.
DIRECTIONS:
After basic skin care, gently apply an amount the size of a bean to the entire face using a finger.
PRECAUTIONS:
For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. Keep out of reach of children. Discontinue use if signs of irritation and/or rash appear.
Then on the back of the box we have a more in depth description of the product all in Hangul ~

Like I said before, all of the CC creams in the 'Color Correcting/Correction' family is meant to adjust to your skin tone, this one comes out as a white cream and if you look extremely closely it has little capsules inside which is meant to burst and those little capsules help the cream to suit your skin color.
Marker Coverage Test
As you can see, the CC cream doesn't really cover a lot, but instead it whitens and brightens up the skin a lot ~

Even though TonyMoly claims that this product somehow helps to cover up blemishes, I do not think that the coverage of this is high enough to do so. You hardly get any coverage with this, I would say it's definitely light if anything.
The texture is really light and thin to work with ^^ ~
The CC creams gives you quite a luminous glow to your skin just like it's name. However, even though it
gives you quite a dewy finish I don't think this would essentially work with people who suffer from really dry skin as it might actually accentuate those areas instead, and of course this wouldn't work for those with really really oily skin unless your willing to touch up with blotting paper or powder throughout the day. I would say this product probably works best for those with Normal-Combination skin.

Overall:
This isn't a bad product, in fact it does have quite a nice finish and you definitely do get that actresses glow sort of skin and the best thing is because the cream is relatively light weight you feel like you haven't applied any base make-up onto your skin.
However, unfortunately I do not have perfect skin and suffer from hyperpigmentation and scarring from acne, and even though I usually already use concealer to cover up them I find that this is just an unnecessary step to do in the morning since it doesn't do anything much but give me a glow on my skin. I feel as though this is more like a primer base than an actual make-up base product like a BB cream or foundation.
Would I Repurchase: No, unless I can get my acne scarring to go away.
Take Care ~ ♥
